L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation Review

The L’Oreal Infallible has been so raved about since it came out so I wanted to put it to the test. When it comes to foundations, I’m very hard to impress. I’m very particular because to me a foundation can make the world of difference to my confidence. I think this comes from years of having acne. I want a foundation that covers imperfections and stands the test of time. This was bought nearly a month ago and I’ve been so impressed ever since.

Product Claims:

‘Infallible Matte is an easy to spread, lightweight, liquid emulsion that is never dull and never cakey. Infallible Matte resists sweat, stress, heat and humidity with no shine and no mask effect. Combining extreme hold and absolute comfort, the matte formula is impeccable all day with no touch-ups required. Only the smoothest formula that lets your skin breathe, containing 1/3 water for a stretching glide and maximum comfort for all day wear. Perlite technology acts like mineral micro sponges to help absorb excess oil and water, so it is clinically proven waterproof, sweat proof and steam proof.’

My Thoughts:

Although I tend to get dry skin I chose the Infallibile 24hr Matte (the one that’s in the tube). I chose this one because I thought it would suit my tastes. I love matte foundations and I thought this one would last longer on my skin. I believe this particular one is recommended for oily skin but unless you’re really dry I think that you will like this one too.

The shade I chose was the lightest shade available to me which is Vanilla. This is a little on the pink side for my skin tone but I still get away with it when I don’t have any fake tan on (which is almost never!).

The foundation comes in a tube which can be a positive and a negative. Products with a pump can sometimes dispense too much so the positive is that you can squeeze out the right amount of product needed. The downside is if it’s running out it will probably be hard to squeeze it and I’ll probably end up cutting it open, messy!

The product is a thick consistency that’s not at all running. This applied best for me when I used a damp beauty blender. The blender helped to buff it into my skin evenly and the product went on with ease.

The coverage is a medium coverage that can be built to full without looking cakey. The first coat covered my uneven skin tone and redness and the second coat covers up any blemishes. I love the silky smooth, matte finish this foundation gives to my skin. It feels really light and natural.

This foundation lasts most of the day for me so I’ve been really impressed. It looks perfect for about 5-6 hours and then it starts to wear off around my nose and chin. I still have pretty good coverage when I get home from work which is usually 9 hours after application and I don’t do any touch ups during the day. It doesn’t last the claimed 24hrs but in all honesty not many foundations do!

Overall I’m really impressed with this foundation. I’ve tested it out for about 3 weeks now and can safely say that I will repurchase. It is a little on the pricey side for a ‘drugstore’ foundation but I can honestly say that it’s worth the money and it’s worth the hype.

Here’s a picture of my before and after which is in the same lighting and without any filter.

Tip:

I’ve teamed this with the L’Oreal Lumi Magique primer a couple of times and it’s given me a really nice illuminated look so if you’re not into a fully matte look you can still tailor the foundation to suit you.
